We have compiled a list of steps to assist you in getting your project started.  Every project is unique, but the following information will allow us to create your custom bid quickly and accurately.  We have also provided a printable Customer Selection Sheet to assist in your project.

Measure the Countertops

Take measurements of the new cabinets or existing countertops to get a rough estimate of the amount of material needed. Try to be as accurate as possible, but keep in mind that we will do our own measure prior to fabrication. An AMC Stone salesperson will work with you to determine the countertop layout and where joints will likely be located.

Select a Material

When choosing stone, think about the colors of your cabinets, flooring, and other elements in the space.

To view examples of some of the most popular marble and granite colors, visit our Options page. However, to really get a sense of the vast array of stones and the many ways you can use it, we encourage you to visit a stone supplier.  You may like a small sample, but that is a small area of a large slab.  It is important to look at the piece as a whole.  Visiting a stone supplier also gives you a better idea of the range of options available.

Select a Thickness

With regards to the performance of the stone, there is no difference with a thicker (3cm) or thinner (2cm) stone.  From a price standpoint, 2cm tends to be less expensive than 3cm.  The thickness will affect the appearance of the edge.  Typically, in the North Texas market, 2cm is used in baths and secondary spaces, while 3cm is commonly used in kitchens or where an overhang is desired, such as an eating bar.  However, the final decision is up to you.

An additional option with regards to thickness is lamination.  This is a process in which an additional strip of stone is cut and adhered to the front edge, giving a more substantial appearance.  Lamination is a more labor-intensive application and may increase the price of the project.

Select an Edge Profile

AMC Stone offers the following edge profiles at no cost:

Bevel, Demi-Bullnose, Full Bullnose, Radius, and Square Polish

We also offer a selection of premium edges for an additional cost:

Ogee, Dupont, French Cove, Chiseled

Examples of these can be found on our Options page.

Select a sink

Sinks come in a variety of sizes, shapes and materials. For bidding purposes, you need to choose between a drop-in or undermount. We are able to provide sinks at a discounted price. For a list of suppliers, check out our Links page.  The sink must be purchased and at our facility prior to the start of fabrication, as it is essential to ensure the accuracy of the sink cutout.

Select a faucet

Before purchasing a faucet, be sure to verify whether your faucet is compatible with the sink you have selected.  There are many options, features, configurations, and finishes to choose from, so we recommend consulting with a specialist wherever you plan to purchase your faucet.

AMC Stone will create a quote for your project based on these selections.  Once an agreement is reached, together we will sign a contract and move forward with the fabrication and installation phase of your project.

Sit Back and Relax

An AMC Stone team member will take the final measurements of your job and make templates if necessary.  We will fabricate your stone based on these precise measurements. Again, we require the sink at our facility so we can template/cutout the sink openings, and be sure to tell us the number of faucet holes required for your installation.  AMC Stone's installation team then installs and seals the stone, and your one of a kind project is complete.
